Time Changes

Interesting how the ongoing message of changing times continues to echo around the “time” many countries are participating in the silly practice of changing their clocks. No surprise, at one point, it was called War Time.
This custom, that has gone on for decades, is so hazardous to numerous individuals’ health but just accepted as normal by most. Many people these days desperately want things to go back to “normal”. They don’t realize that many unpleasant things that were “normal” can only be improved with massive change.

Have you ever considered the difference between “normal” and “natural”? Although the two words are often used interchangeably, they have very different meanings. Normal is conforming to the standard, typical or expected. Natural, on the other hand, is existing in nature, not caused or created by humankind. Then again, I can always argue everything I say as human language is so limited for me. One could argue that humankind IS part of nature but I think you get the picture as far as the point of considering that everything “normal” might not be particularly desirable.

I am, by no means, implying that everything “normal” is negative. There is much beauty all around us we can put our focus on and create more of. The course of change in each of our individual lives is directly affected by our reactions and contributions to the situations around us -- something I definitely need to remind myself of regularly.

This season of Mabon, Halloween, Samhain, and Dia De Los Muertos invites us to play a little more in the realm of the supernatural. Do you have celebrations and practices that uplift you? Were there practices in your past that might be fun to incorporate again today? Perhaps something new is more appropriate for the way you wish to change things in your world. However you choose to observe special holidays, or not, I honor you!

Enlightened Trick or Treat

Is everything a trick or a treat? Is everything good or bad? Actually, nothing in itself is absolutely either way but our perception makes it so. “It” just is. One person can view a rainfall as welcome nourishment for the plants. Another can see it as a catastrophe which ruined a year-long planned event. This can be an oversimplification as some things really do seem awful. However, if one is willing to look, many gifts – or treats – can be seen as a result. You might say our Enlightened Perception allows us view all things, in some manner, as treats.

A few of you are aware that I used to be highly pessimistic (echoing Not All Who Wander Are Lost). I’d say, “Everything happens for a reason and that reason is to &#*@ me!” Thankfully I’ve awakened quite a bit since then. One of my shifts in thinking was and is, “Everything happens for a reason and that reason is to bless me!”

Standing from a place of non-judgement doesn’t mean I like everything. We all have personal preference. It’s part of the reason we became human – to have different experiences.

And that’s a wonderful thing. Imagine if everyone all wanted to live in the same place on the planet. That wouldn’t work so well. People will offer numerous arguments about not preferring many things they are experiencing. There are many layers of that onion to peel – layers that countless books have expounded upon. Layers that one will have to go on their own journey of enlightenment to shed if they so choose.

Trick or Treat?  Two sides of the same coin. One example of such is Te Fiti and Taka. “They” are one being. Taka is her state when someone had stolen her heart. Even I almost wrote “cruelly stolen”. But that would have been a judgement call. The majority of human society is so prone to judgement we hardly notice what is and our opinion of what is. We would probably all conclude that Te Fiti is her preferred state. Today can you shift your perspective a bit to start seeing the Beauty in the Beast?

A treat in my life, I am observing in gratitude, is I now have many hosts who would like me to assist them in their tropical places. Having a waiting list of appreciative folk is a kinda nice feeling as a human. Someday, when I am more evolved/enlightened, I won’t need that confirmation to get the same warm fuzzy emotion. I acknowledge where I am today and know an attitude of gratitude helps multiply my preferred treats. Perhaps it might work for you?

If you hurry, you can still get some Halloween/Dia de los Muertos Sea Spirits. Also offered are many unique, hand-crafted choices for your Holiday gifting. Here are some samples and there are many more varieties of each! Check out our Gifts From the Sea fb page to view more You can also email with items you are interested in for additional information.

From my stories, you may be aware that technology and I have had an interesting
Even my helper couldn't determine the problem
relationship. I am now in a situation requiring my third computer in less than a year. Not wanting to put my focus on the complex tale, I will leave it at that. Have my blog posts inspired, entertained or enlightened you in any way? If so, and you’d like to help me keep them coming, perhaps you would hit the donate button. Any amount (remember the loaves and the fishes) will greatly help me get on my more peaceful computing way.

Is it a Trick? ….or a Treat?

Angels and Villains

So many significant, moving and wonderful things are occurring in life. It is difficult to decide which would be most helpful to share and uplift. At the same time, remembering it must be kept short and sweet for folks even to have the time and energy to take it in.

A very special Lady in my life went HOME at the end of August. It felt a bit magical that I was just thinking about her strongly hours before. I even fb posted something on death with her in my mind before I heard the news. The stories of other joyful synchronicities surrounding her passing comforted and warmed my heart as it did for others close to her. Fly free Dear Angel. Thank you for your love and happiness that surrounds us......until we meet again 💜

More furbabies brightened my life that I was privileged to care for while their people traveled. They don’t warm up to everyone so I was super grateful as we got closer with each passing day…to the point they didn’t want me to leave. Notice tails a-blur in the last pic anticipating treats 😊 So blessed!

Are you the kind of person that decorates to the hilt for every holiday and special occasion? I was until I unexpectedly began my gypsea journey. If you are, Spirits of the Sea are the perfect unique trim to add to your Halloween collection. Or possibly your celebration of Dia de los Muertos. As you can see, these Ghosts of the Sea shells are each one of a kind. $2 each or 10 for a mere $10. Add a phantom presence by illuminating them from behind with tiny white lights or tea candles or display as you choose.

While admittedly partial to Dolphins, I am not thrilled with the bad rap Sharks get. Other natural predators aren’t vilified for the way they live, so why these sea beauties? But even “villains” aren’t all evil - although it sometimes takes a master to realize such. For example, Ursula, the Sea Witch. She is self-assured and comfortable in her own skin. Although someone else played a great part in putting this hellion in her sad position, she isn’t satisfied just to stay there but takes action toward her goals. A sense of humor, outstanding voice and doing things different from the crowd also add to her admirable qualities. With Ursula in mind, we offer the Sea Witch Tiara – a thing of dark beauty.

And now, the moment you have awaited with bated breath has arrived. The Winner of the Shark Tooth Contest is (drum roll please)….Kelli Mathisen! Thank you Kelli for all your support of Gifts From the Sea and Other Treasures. We hope you enjoy your impressive fossilized shark tooth prize. Thanks also going out to everyone who participated in our contest and help us spread the word about Gifts From the Sea and Other Treasures!

Opposite of the mega sized tooth, we have a shark toothy tiny frame art. Occasionally, when trying something new, it doesn’t always turn out as planned. Since we feel this is slightly imperfect, here is your opportunity to snatch this treasure up at a sharp discount. Usually our tiny frame art singles are surprisingly only $15. Get this tiny framed tooth shark for a mere $10 plus s+h.

Thank you, dear reader, for being one of the bright angels in my life. It is an incredible journey of ups and downs made more joyful by the energy you impart. Let’s overcome the villains in our lives by noticing the angels around us including the ones we ourselves ARE!
