Good-Bye Casey Key

It’s been 5 or 6 times now that I have “left” Florida. In all the previous departures, upon leaving Casey Key, I was filled with sadness and tears as I bid farewell.

Some of you know I ran on Casey Key almost every morning. Well….ran/walked. I’d run out to a certain point, usually 3-5 miles, then walk back drinking in the beauty and experiences of nature. Almost always my run would be in the darkness before dawn while my walk was crowned by the gorgeous sunrise. Along with my
enchantment in witnessing this glorious transition (and the temperature), I loved the solitude this time of day gifted me. Frolicking dolphins entertained me with their antics. At times, they provided escort services and once I swam with lone finned friend. Turtle season brought a new wave of babies of which I probably got to see 50 -75. It was my privilege to personally rescue dozens too. Osprey, heron, and other seabird varieties were ever present both before and after dawn. Magic presented in the form of shooting stars, dragonflies on gossamer wing and sparkling rainbows. On a final visit, an exquisite, inch long baby sea horse presented me a parting magical experience.

When engaged in my daily ritual, I experienced a different Casey Key than most perceive. Often I
moved along this Island when it did not bear the name Casey Key. It was sprawling with lush tropical vegetation sans all the houses there now. Frequently I was transported to this "scene" I first experienced in 2005. It was the first time I’d been in Florida and stepped foot on Casey Key in this human form. Words cannot adequately describe the “event” I felt. It was as if I was in a swirling vortex of energy, then had a profound feeling of remembrance……same place different time. The words and feeling, “I’m back” rang through me and have been echoed many times since. I really don’t know “when” I was there before….if I was a native in a past life or what, but I was definitely returning somehow….again…and again.

You know, by now, that I follow “signs” and divine inspiration. One day I was walking back “smelling the seashells” and I hear a monster mosquito. Ok, it really wasn’t a mosquito, it was a motor of some sort. Looking up I couldn’t believe what I was seeing….a large unmanned craft, rectangular with 4 propellers on each corner, flying low along the shoreline.  As I come back to the sea every day for the solitude to refresh and renew, this gross invasion of my sacred mood was keenly felt. The very next day, I observed a strange glass tubular object protruding from the sand about 4 feet. It had some kind of measuring markings and a small solar panel generating it. What it actually is for I don’t know but the labeling indicating “armed” and “ready to launch” certainly didn’t leave me with very happy thoughts. These two incidents seemed to be the icing on top of the cake pointing to head somewhere else. Once I was very clear about that, an interesting thing happened. I began my process of saying good-bye to Casey Key. For the first time there was no sadness…only peace and calm. There was almost a sense of completion and finality. It is as if everything I have come to Florida to give and receive had happened. Since I almost never say never, I can’t be sure I won’t return to Florida but, for now, that’s definitely how it feels.

Speaking of things received, I am so grateful to have been the recipient of the kindness of many Florida Earth Angels. Some reading this….you know who you are! On a previous trip, my bike remained with a friend with the message to sell, give away or do whatever he needed with it as I didn’t know if or when I’d ever be back. He was the one that unexpectedly put me up my first night back in Florida. Gleefully I discovered my bike still there just waiting to be reunited with me. Flashing back to my previous time in California….I’d offered my enthusiastic musical nephew my accordion as he indicated interest when my Dad was entertaining us on his. Upon my hunt through my stored items, the realization hit me that it was one of the things I had to part with previously. I had no clue who I gifted it to or in what state it currently resided. As I was having a cheery catch up lunch in Florida with a dear girlfriend of mine, she mentioned that the family still had “my accordion” in their closet. Now it all came back. I’d hoped one of the kids would take a liking to it but, thus far, nada. So I happily repossessed it excited at the prospect of being able to present it to my deserving nephew. In a previous trip from Florida, I took all my items from storage and others who had been kindly holding things for me and drove them across the US in a 16 foot rental truck. Most of it I gave to my daughter and a good portion my daughter was gracious enough to let me store at her place for my future use. It wasn’t until I was unpacking that I realized I didn’t have one item that was quite special to me and a very important part of the intended cargo. My grand shell framed mirror was one of the few items I actually had the time and space to create. “Few” because I have dreamed of making shell creations for years and all the different treasures I’d create to gift and sell. So far I have a shop full….only in my head as the life choices I have made so far aren’t conducive to having a craft room by the sea. Years I’d spent trying to track it down in vain. Planets lined up on this trip for a hero to miraculously get it back into my hands. I had a feeling that all my Florida “loose ends” had been tied up.

Of course there always has to be a cliff hanger….both for you and for me. Another situation arose for me before leaving the state. It may prove to be an exhilarating future adventure. But….that’s a story for another day ;-)
Many of you are aware that I am selling or trading land in Costa Rica. The two lots are in Ojochal – one with an ocean view – near the Osa Peninsula on the beautiful pacific side. Just in case you might know someone…..I am also interested in trading the property for a boat such as here. This particular boat owner wishes to trade for something in Fort Lauderdale Florida. If you know any property owners in Ft. Lauderdale interested in Costa Rica land, perhaps a deal can be done there. Otherwise I’d be interested in connecting with a boat owner similar to the one presented. Also, I have a gentleman interested in potentially acquiring my Pura Vida land for the first hemp luxury retreat. If you are on fb, you can learn more here  If you know anyone who may be interested in joining his venture, I’d be happy to connect you. Who do you know?

As always, I extend to you my fervent gratitude. You are such an important aspect of my journey. Appreciating your warm love and generous support and magically swirling the same back to you!

Things Are Not Always As They Seem!

My next grand adventure was precipitated by the fact I needed to be out of my apartment at the hotel (where I was previously staying) for a few hours due to pest control activity. So I embarked on one of my favorite occupations….moseying along Casey Key musing and reminiscing. In an almost trance-like state, I was about to turn on Blackburn Point to exit the Key when I saw the sign. “Open House”! On North Casey Key? Yes! So I continued north until I came upon “The Property”.

It was a magnificent 8.8 acre sanctuary with a few humble but cozy structures upon it. Definitely one of a kind – super unique to the area. It stretched from its 400 foot private beach to the intracoastal waterway including a totally private lagoon. The agents inside welcomed me and loved my “picture” I painted for them of the spiritual retreat center. Walking the property felt so peaceful….almost sacred. As I approached the lagoon, a manatee suddenly surfaced forcefully expelling air as if in greeting. Since the agent with me hadn’t seen it, I requested an encore of the sizeable but gentle beast. He
immediately obliged then moved on. I envisioned all the different activities and uses of the various areas for people to come for personal transformation in serene nature. In presenting my vision, I immediately made it known that I personally did not have the means to purchase the property…..a mere 15 million. However, if everything lined up logically, I could recruit investors. A couple days later I get a phone call to meet with the listing agent. Delighted, I returned and learned more about the property. Reiterating my position regarding the finances and my wish to respect everyone’s time, I said one of the first things we need to determine, before spending a lot of time and energy in this pursuit, was if we could get it zoned for the intended use. The listing agent got in touch with the architect and got the ball rolling to find the answer. In the meantime, he said I was welcome to visit the property anytime and, if I wanted to access the buildings, to contact one of the other agents and she’d meet me to unlock them.

One day I visited the property with a potential investor. We took our sweet time exploring including going to the beach past the rocks were it opened up for miles. As we were walking, I got a very clear message in my head, “my car is being towed”. Not wanting to fuel that thought with energy or alarm my companion, I continued strolling back at the same speed. Sure enough, when we returned, the car was not there. Without going into all the details, things had lined up like the perfect storm for the incident to have happened. While this event surely was what most people would label “bad”, I was truly provided for every step of the sometimes inconvenient way. In the process of this incident, I realized there was way more to the story other than, "all 4 out of state sibling owners had decided this was a good time in the market to sell the place".

A couple days later, on another investor friend’s advice, I visited the county clerk’s computer to peruse the public records. All sorts of sensational details revealed themselves to me in the process. The owner, who paid my car’s “bail”, had initiated legal action against his 3 siblings resulting in a court order to sell the place. So everyone didn’t really want to sell this history rich property that had been in the family at least 70 years. Now, even if the price was 2 million dollars, I wasn’t interested. I didn’t want to take a property from someone who didn’t want to offer it…..that’s just bad karma.

In addition to dreaming, I was also frequenting the property which, at the time I was referring to as The Sanctuary, to see how things and people around were “normally” - i.e. not on their best behavior. I didn’t give the whole juicy scoop about the towing incident but it revealed quite a bit about how people were around there normally. Another thing I discovered a couple days later was the tide. The water came up so high that I could not easily navigate the rocks to get to the open beach. Being closed in on that little beach…..well, now even 8.8 acres felt a little claustrophobic. I do realize $15,000,000 is a drop in the bucket for a few folks reading my blog. For me, it’s a lot of money – particularly when I would be potentially the steward of other peoples’ money being invested. I wanted to familiarize myself with the property and possibilities from all angles.

Clearly, the towing incident and the high tides, which coincided at a similar time, showed me that it was time to wrap up this possibility. It was also an oddly wrapped powerful gift saving me much time, money and energy on something not meant to be. Looking back on the weeks I was there, I was living the dream. Being there daily, once or two times, I got to witness nature at different times of the day. Everywhere I’d look was postcard worthy. I was experiencing the retreat as if it were currently in existence!

So here’s echoing my previous post. I continue living my dreams as most live their worries. Years ago, I used to be a little disappointed when things didn’t happen as I imagined they could. Now, it’s like reading a book or watching a movie with an ending not so desired. One might think, “I’d have written that differently”, and then simply move on with their life. So that’s where I am, calling out to the Universe a confident “Next!”

While I know your journey doesn’t look quite like mine, I also know you have your own flavor of adventures in “the jungles of space and time” as my friend Mike Dooley puts it. If you are getting all the nutrients necessary to fuel your daily activities, wonderful! If not, perhaps you will consider supporting your intake with Juice Plus. Most of you are already familiar with the capsules containing 17 fruits, veggies and grains. Maybe you could also use a boost in your day with a nutritious shake or energy bar. I invite You to my website to learn more and place your order if it feels right for your health.

The Journey Is The Destination!

From an outsider’s perspective, it would seem like I have gotten myself in the “same” situation time and time again - a situation where I have poured my hard work, passion, expertise, wisdom and connections into an agreement and then not been appreciated for it. Some cases exhibited not only a lack of appreciation but were also abusive. Mind you, I check in with my Higher Guidance regularly and am never a victim. I always know the exact next step at the time that is best for me to take. There may be chaos around me and, for the most part, I am the Eye of the Storm.

From my previous blog post, you are probably already guessing that the double hotel thing didn’t work out as anticipated. And you’d be right. Finally after meeting with the second owner of the hotel I was staying, things became clear. I was overqualified for what they wanted there and it was never going to be what the initial owner I was dealing with dreamed it would be. Since I had signed on for a vision that was no longer viable, we amicably parted ways.

In the society of most people reading this post, the negativity is
what is focused on. And it looks like, “Oops I’ve Done It Again!” However, more often than any less desirable condition, I am blessed with “situations” in which I experience more miraculous happenings than the average person. Basically I realize that the “Destination” is in each and every NOW moment I am in. In every NOW, I have free will to look up at the rainbow or down in the mud. In every NOW, I make a choice to have a certain experience that others may or may not be aware of just evaluating appearances from the outside. We came here into this existence to live each pregnant NOW as best and fully as we possibly can thus making each NOW the destination.

Thankfully, I was welcomed by my new friend Elizabeth who had not taken in a new tenant since I
initially visited her with the possibility of renting upon my arrival to Florida. Guess it was meant to be. She graciously received me into her beautiful home. It’s so nice to have my private space including bedroom,
hallway, bathroom (with bathtub!) and separate entrance. Of course, I have access to “common areas” like the kitchen, living room, dining area, patio and lovely yard right next to the lake. My area is decorated with shells, occasional turtles, and feel good colors for me.

I now am living the excitement of my next adventure or, better stated, current adventure. It is a long shot…..odds of it coming to fruition are like that of winning the lottery – yet it is possible. I am enthusiastically living escapades that may or may not actually materialize in this life like most others
live their worries. “Civilized” people worry about getting into an accident or catching some disease or bad things happening to their loved ones or a gazillion other scenarios that never actually happen. What does happen, however, is they live like it did happen which manifests itself in stress, ulcers, migraines, cancer and more. I enjoy living my dreams daily. Some folks say I’m not being realistic or facing reality. Guess what? Our NOW reality is what each and every one of us make it by what we focus on. No thank you. I don’t prefer to live in their worrisome “reality”. I choose joy. I
choose magic. I choose peace. I choose happiness.

I was going to wait to put this out until I was ready to share more about my Lottery Dream Opportunity but am being inspired to share this teaser with you NOW.

Back to My Beach!

As you know from my previous post, I was, once more, feeling the powerful call of Florida. With the help of “My Angels”, I was on the road again at the end of June. The tentative plan was to rent a room from a delightful soul sister named Elizabeth for a couple months. In that period of time, I figured I’d reconnect with my Florida friends and see if anything “clicked” indicating I might be guided to an extended stay. I did my now usual two day trip between California and Florida running on adrenaline.

Finally, I got to meet Elizabeth in person and she was exactly as I anticipated from our previous email

and phone communication. Her home was warm and inviting with so many touches I would have in my own including proximity to water that I could view through the window or relaxing outside. I was so ready to unload the car, take a shower and settle in. However, there was a catch. On both our ends, we had somewhat loose plans which we both understood. For my part, I wasn’t sure exactly which day I’d be embarking on my cross-country trek or how many days I would actually take. Elizabeth had a renter already who anticipated moving around the end of June. When I arrived, he was still there. Another Angel Friend in the area generously put me up for the night. I planned on sleeping in the next day for a much needed catch up, then drive to my beach and go for a morning run.

As I drove to the beach around 8:30, I glanced at the temperature….87 degrees…already?! While I love the heat, I do not run in it. Resigning myself to the fact it would now be a bikini stroll, there was no hurry to get to the beach. As such, I opted for the scenic route of Casey Key turning onto Blackburn Point. One after another, I reminisced about the story on this property and that…how I knew the owners here and tried to acquire the property there, how we almost rented here and such. Making a last minute decision turn into the parking lot of Gulfside Beach Club, I decided to say Hi to my friend Karen. Turns out I pulled into the parking lot just as she arrived. Surprised to see me, we exchange the short versions of our catch up stories. Karen informed me that she just received a call from a gentleman looking for a manager for his hotel and gave me his phone number.
Returning to the car, I made the phone call. The hotel owner seemed intrigued by me but needed to consult with his partner. I told him I was about to commit to renting a month with someone. So he asked if we could meet later in the afternoon. Between then and our actual meeting at one of his hotels (he recently purchased two), I had one synchronistic miracle after another both on the beach and around town. When we got together, the hotel owner and I seemed to click right away. It appeared our future visions had enough similarities to be valuable to each other. He was planning on renovating both places and having retreat/spa/self enhancement programs at his location on Casey Key. Now, he was looking for on-site help for the mile from the beach location but again, needed to speak with his partner about the details. He asked what I was going to pay in rent at the other place. When I told him, he asked if I would be willing to stay there for that rental amount the month. I agreed figuring that, while we were working out negotiations and specifics about the position, I’d be peacefully settling in, maybe do some Telephone Wellness Coaching, and re-connecting with my friends in the area. I was all but bursting with excitement!

Once again, the expected scenario didn’t happen. I hit the ground running almost literally. While I did run every morning on my beautiful beach, I also got up at 4:30 to do so and be back at the hotel helping out. Within days of my arrival, one of the 2 office gals went on vacation for a couple weeks. Two days after she returned the other left. So I was engaged in hotel work morning until night with breaks only to be on the beach early morning and late at night. Of course, I was also able to fit in fun volleyball for a couple hours M-W-F as well. On top of my day’s assistance, some nights I had phone duty which meant not getting enough uninterrupted sleep. That’s where I decided to draw the line. While I didn’t end up paying the rent, I was also not being paid to work all these hours. In addition, I wasn’t able to help them in the manner I uniquely can – namely coordinating, marketing, networking etc. Throughout it all for the most part, I maintained a sense of deep appreciation and wonder for all the delights I had here in Florida that I so enjoyed…..my playful dolphins, my ever-changing beach, impressive cloud formations, magnificent sunrises and sunsets, vibrant rainbows and……warmth!

At the end of July, I had my meeting with the owner. I presented my observations, concerns and proposals. I’m not sure if he understood the impact of me telling him 100s of people were waiting for the outcome of this meeting. If I could create a fraction of the retreat center I have in mind with him, there are many folks who would come to avail themselves of such. In the course of our meeting (out on the sand in beach chairs no less), I gained valuable insights about the owners, investors, property situations and such. Laying pretty much all my cards on the table, I let him know I could see myself assisting him and his businesses for years to come if we had an arrangement that honored all involved. Just as easily, I could bow out tomorrow if necessary. Interestingly, I even had folks contact me a few days before about a work exchange situation in the Florida Keys to which I had not yet responded. How freeing it is being so flexible! Again, he needed to discuss things with his partners and was also going on vacation the next day. The outcome of meeting left me not excited but peaceful and satisfied. I agreed to work with him for another month. This time not as office hour coverage and room cleaning but doing the professional things I am skilled at. While I do not know what the following month will hold, for now I absolutely know I am in the exact right place at the perfect time for me.

Daily I live in gratitude for all the beauty around me. This shows up in a myriad of ways through the wonders of nature, reconnecting with my friends, helping make a big positive difference in so many peoples’ lives here….wonderfully too many to count. Turtle magic is strong as I arrived back during “Turtle Season” in Florida – May through October. Every day mama turtles come up and make new nests. Every night hatchlings make their way out of the sand and continue on their first voyage to sea. It is a powerful process to be a part of!

Of course I will keep you posted. If things continue to evolve in a harmonious direction that involves retreat settings or just beautiful experiences by the sea, perhaps I will be able to host you here in the future. If you have been reading my blog for any amount of time, you will know that I have left this area a number of times. Like a magnet, I keep being drawn back for whatever reason. Perhaps we are finally getting that answer. Thank you for all your loving support along the way, energetic and otherwise! Stay Tuned :-)

P.S. As you can see, I am still not skilled with website and blog design. If you are an expert and wish to be an Angel for me regarding this....or want to do a trade, please contact me and we'll see how we might honor each other. Many Thanks!
