Love Always…Technology Occasionally

Those who know me well, also know Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday. I must add - as if we need a holiday to celebrate Love! For me, when one is focusing on Love, they are in the most wonderful moment, dimension or space. Delightfully, it can be repeated and lived eternally – or, at least, as long as we can keep our conscious intention focused.

While doing my best to come from a place of love, today I report a bit about my relationship with technology. As long as technology has been available, I’ve had tech “issues”. When the internet first came to be, I just “had to” have an aol account to be in business. Then I “had to” have a website. Of course, the obligatory newsletter was not far behind. Then followed the social media explosion starting with Myspace. While I admit to dragging my feet the whole way – not thrilled with it at all, I did my best to learn so I could be the most professional and successful in my wellness business. Some knew me back then, when my company name and logo – yes, one’s logo

absolutely defined their business! – was Fit Bodies. (Long before facebook, FB to me meant Fit Bodies!) Very quickly, my practice expanded to encompass so much more than my clients’ bodies. Dancing with the balance and integration of body, mind, spirit and beyond, Fit Bodies evolved into UniversalWellness.  (Thanks Russ and Julie at JRP Productions Graphic Design for my current gorgeous lotus logo!) 

I used technology to market, to create a book, for bookkeeping and huge (for me) database maintenance among other things. In spite of my best efforts, as soon as I learned something and began integrating it acceptably in my work, the hardware or software changed. This forced me, should I wish to keep up with what was “necessary to succeed in business”, to spend more money each time. Needless to say, I’d have to learn the new format again as well since it generally didn’t behave like its predecessor. I loved working with my clients and teaching classes but the rest of the running the business stuff was constantly challenging. However, I battled on bravely. Why? Because I loved

my clients….and so I could provide the best life possible for my precious children. Unlike in days of old, things – especially all those tech – aren’t made to last. With every new computer I got, I was required to pay all over again for software I’d already spent hundreds of dollars on. But even paying the ransom didn’t prevent losing valuable information and abilities from the older version each time.

My move from CA to FL in 2006 was just the beginning of huge waves of change sweeping over my life. The incredible magicians at Axicom continued to assist me in keeping my database, and other things important on my computer(s), for years. This was particularly tricky with my life transforming to gypsy life and living mostly by trade. Obviously, hardware and software companies won’t exchange their products for wellness coaching and

such. The Axicom Angels helped me rescue remnants of my previously extensive database (around 2,000 contacts) but I finally lost complete use of the ACT software a few years ago. Same thing has been happening with my website for over a decade. I went from working diligently to maintain the content and mailing list and then… Over the years, I was able to do less and less with regard to modifying existing content and adding new information. This was in spite of my web guy doing everything he could for me in the ever-changing tech world.  It finally came down to me basically keeping the website for the presence, a reference for older information and a portal through which I sent out an announcement for new blog posts to the wonderful folks on my personally cultivated emailing list. Since last year, it has been getting shut down with each announcement. The mysterious cause was finally discovered, when it again occurred in January 2021. Sending out a message “only” once a month was seen as “not normal” (then again, what about me is?) and was getting flagged for sending out spam. Evidently the “service” cannot take into consideration individual account needs so I am left with some big questions of how to proceed from here.

A few close ones know it would be easier for me to disappear in some tropical location with virtually no technology. I have seriously been tempted to go that route a number of times over the past decade. Each time, I have regrouped and found a way to hold on...until the Universe shows me otherwise.

I am not even sure how this blog post will be adequately announced now that I cannot do so through my website emailing “service”. The January announcement only went out to maybe half the list before it got shut down. So many times, I have seriously considered just

quitting writing this too… And I do so again now. One of the big reasons it has gone on this long is for Love – it’s definitely not for money! Heartfelt feedback I’ve regularly received has reminded me of the bright difference it has made. And so, at least for this month, I lovingly share this post with you. I trust I will be guided appropriately – on so many levels – on what actions to take for next month. It’s still…one day at a time and sometimes even, one moment at a time. One moment to make a conscious choice to make the best decision possible from a place of Love.

This post drastically evolved into a very different communication than I envisioned for my sparkling Love post. For the moment, I trust this particular message reaches just the right people at exactly the right time.

Changing gears but still with Love….

I wish I could wrap this up with......and they all lived happily ever after. But I realize, for me, I can only be happily in this moment. So, in this moment of love and joy, I swirl its essence to you in whatever moment you are reading this. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude for the Light You Are in My Life! Love or Fear?

In your day to day life, are you coming from love or fear?
Are you living fearfully in a pandemic or peacefully in a beautiful world?

Abraham, via Esther Hicks, reminds us, “Never face reality unless your reality is just the way you want it to be.”

I understand it can be tough when you are in the midst of a major challenge to see beyond it. But the more you focus on that “reality” and, in a sense, argue for it, the more that will be your experience. So how do you shift a reality when almost everything around you reinforces it? You use your free will to focus on the aspects you desire – aspects that bring you joy- and use your imagination to create more of those. Concentrate intently on the exquisite beauty

of flowers you enjoy or marvel over an ancient tree. Really savor a delectable favorite food – anticipating it, relishing it with your senses, and being grateful after. Let yourself to be hypnotized by ocean waves,

a flowing stream or even a recording of such. You get the picture. Allow yourself to notice something difficult only if there is an immediate action you need to take in the moment to mitigate it.
Otherwise, simply observe your monkey mind wandering off on its own and Let It Go. Intentionally redirect your attention to something desired or appreciated be it “real” or imagined.

Remember, your mind does not distinguish between what is “real” and that which is vividly imagined.

It also helps to state things in the positive such as, “I am vibrant and healthy!” instead of “I’m so grateful I’m not sick anymore!”  However, the latter sure beats a prophetic mental recording of, “I always get sick!” Being vigilant with regard to our thoughts and words really does make a powerful difference.

Knowing the Universe reflects what you put out into it, it’s best not to report “negative” facts to others - unless they can help you improve your situation or you help them better theirs. Perhaps they have a connection to solve your difficulty. An example of how you might assist someone by sharing your story - Example: “I had a similar computer issue like you are describing and the amazing techs at Axicom resolved it like magic!”

A vast number of people are “stuck” in a fearful or victim reality because they are addicted and/or don’t know any other way. You probably know people addicted to drama. As you are aware, most drama is not perceived as particularly positive. For much of humanity, a certain traumatic or fearful way of life is all they have known. These people, collectively, have a difficult time fathoming existence can be any other way. First, someone has to wish for a better situation. Next, they have to have a glimmer of hope that it might be possible. Often baby steps are necessary although overnight shifts are possible. Part of living in love involves expecting “miracles”.

Another helpful thing to remember is that things/events are not inherently good or bad but our perception makes them so. For instance:

The bad news is I didn’t have my computer for several weeks due to technological issues so couldn’t do my usual activities. The good news is I didn’t have my computer for several weeks so couldn’t do my usual activities. I could go on and on bemoaning my woes resulting from not having my computer. I could also expound on the numerous silver linings resulting from not having my computer. While I did have a few rough moments, most of the time I was able to put my attention on the bright side.

By your example, are you teaching your kids or others you influence that things are awful and frightening? Or do you emphasize the wonder and excitement of what is? As you go about your day, think about pausing before you take action as often as possible. (New habits can take a while to form.) In that pause, ask yourself, “How would this look, if I approached it from a place of love and peace? What action might you take, coming from love, that would brighten others’ lives?

As per the mirror and ripple effects, this exponentially enhances your life and the rest of the world! Pretty spectacular don’t you think? Perhaps, as you move through your day more mindfully, you will notice the situations you typically approach through fear and worry. Stop! How can you turn them around? What new order/request would you like to put out to God/ The Universe with your intentions?

One way I am helping spread the love is by raising awareness about a relatively new platform called Sharebay.org It’s kinda like ebay but everything is offered free! I would also like to share with you one of my recent masterpieces…. Sirena ~ Mystical Mermaid Queen. She is a OOAK (one of a kind) mermaid doll. Adorned with shells and jewels of the sea, she sits atop her coral throne. Even the piece of seaweed draped over the coral is delicately hand crafted. From her crown to her necklace to the variety of shells in her hair, the detail is exquisite! She holds aloft her magical conch as she shimmers in hues of purple, lavender and pearly pink in the sun. Is she really sitting there or is she your imagination?!

Giving Thanks

Like Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving is an event I live daily. However, it is nice to have a specially appointed celebration to help people remember to focus on an attitude of gratitude. While we could go on with the woes of the world litany non-stop, we really could do the same with our blessings. For example, I could seriously write a hilarious book about my ongoing computer complexities. However, doing so wouldn’t be joyful for me and would have me focus on things of a not so bright nature. I bring the subject up again to thank some amazing folks. Costco Angel Jackie went above and beyond. She jumped (or flew) through hoops to make things right with the cheerfulness and patience of a saint! Once again, the Axicom Angels also flew to my technology assistance. In this world, I will never be able to thank them enough. For decades, Axicom has been providing high quality yet affordable IT services. Again I have been mermazingly blessed to have been able to experience lots of enchanted beach time. Nature rages fierce one day then transforms to calm and idyllic overnight. Even going to the same places, I never know what spells will be cast over me until I am in each new encounter. Manta rays fly through the air defying gravity effortlessly – reminding me of Moana’s grandmother and her wisdom. Dolphins appear just at the moment I need an energetic or emotional boost. They know! Recently I was thrilled to see dolphins leaping tremendous heights rotating sideways completely clearing the tops of Monstro waves - over and over again. A variety of shells, interesting stones, colorful beach glass, shark teeth and lost jewelry are among the thousands of treasures I am gifted.

The Universe sometimes works in mysterious ways. I received three unsolicited requests for work exchange assistance in the Virgin Islands in as many weeks. I thought for sure that was a sign for the next turn in my journey. Perhaps my secluded retreat would be revealed as I explored that area of the Caribbean. Based on what I had going on at the time, I figured I’d be there by the end of September – October at the latest. Yet more signs showed up later indicating I should be right where I am now, exercising my particular abilities. And it’s not quite the Caribbean. Often, I feel like the writing on the wall is in hieroglyphics with God/ The Universe apparently overlooking the fact I haven’t been fluent in that language in a very long time! Fortunately, I always know, without a shadow of a doubt, what my very next step is to be. Perhaps I will still re-adventure to the Virgin Islands someday. Then again, I’d rather be presented the map with X marking the spot of my tropical dream home! Hey, anything is possible!
